It’s here! The beginning of 2019!
So. What, exactly, does that mean? Parties? Resolutions?
How about resolving in 2019 to take charge of your vision and try something new? Or revisit something that didn’t work out for you in the past? Couldn’t wear contact lenses before because your eyes were too dry? There are a lot of lenses now made with more “breathable” material. They are practically liquid themselves! Many patients whose eyes could not tolerate a lens in the past are getting fabulously comfortable results with theses lenses.
Can’t wear contacts because you have “no-line bifocals”? Not true! The advances in design for the over 40 crowd are astronomical! You don’t always have to resort to wearing “cheaters” over your contacts or trying to adjust to the mono-vision style of one eye focusing at a distance and one focusing up close.
Today’s multifocal lenses do all the work for you and are comfortable, too!
And! Speaking of “no-line bifocals”!
I know that you have all heard the horror stories about “getting used to” progressive lenses – which is the correct term for the no-line bifocal. People made it sound like you had to practically turn your eyes inside-out in order to find “the spot”. And, sometimes, you did. Tip your head this way. Point your nose that way.
Um. No.
Are those lenses still in use, today? Yes. They are. A lot of the third party vision plans use them as their standard lenses. That is, the lenses with the lowest co-pay. They also have the oldest technology. Choosing one of the old design lenses is akin to preferring to watch the Big Game on a 24-inch, black and white RCA television set. With rabbit ears!
Is there more expense involved? Probably. But a 2019 Tesla is more expensive than a 1977 Yugo, too. And, yes. That is a valid comparison. Technology in the eyewear industry moves just as fast as technology in the automobile or electronics industry. And the benefits are just as numerous. So that low-copay progressive is probably just as obsolete as a Yugo, as well!
For many patients, adapting to today’s progressive eyeglass lenses is no more difficult than adapting to a single-focus lens. They truly do make your eyes feel like they are 25-years-old, again!
Combined with the high-definition materials and amazing no-glare finishes that are available, your progressives will definitely be worth whatever investment you make.
And glasses are, without a doubt, an investment. We know that. And we won’t pretend that we don’t.
Stop in or give us a call and we will be happy to get you an appointment for a full, comprehensive eye exam. Once Dr Kay or Dr Deweese has determined your prescription needs, our optical team will be happy to explain all of your options. And make it fun, too!
This will be one resolution that you will be happy to keep! And, unlike that annual gym membership that you’ll use for a month or so, a fantastic pair of glasses is something that you’ll use everyday!
