So. Here it is. The year that we’ve all been waiting for!
It’s 2020! The Year of the Optometrist!
Now, you won’t find “The Year of the Optometrist” in any astrological chart. It won’t be on the paper place mats at your favorite Chinese restaurant. 2020 is a brief moment in the vast timeline of the Universe that we in the eyecare industry can call our own. For 366 days of forever, we belong to the Cosmos.
Let’s see… Children born in the Year of the Optometrist will have a wizard-like ability to change their eye color at will. A mere blink will take them from brown to blue to, I dunno, zebra striped! Purple zebra striped! Glasses will magically appear with a wave of their hands!
Okay. Maybe not. But this year’s Optometry School graduates will have really cool diplomas!
For the 366 days that make up the Year of the Optometrist (Leap Year, you know), we will celebrate the men and women who keep our eyes healthy and help us see the best that we possibly can.
Dr Kay and Dr Deweese are Doctors of Optometry. Optometric Physicians. ODs. Though they lack the purple cloaks and magic wands of true wizards, they do have the ability to diagnose and treat many diseases, conditions, injuries and refractive errors – the glitches in our eyes that give us the need for glasses or contact lenses.
By looking inside your eyes, they can often diagnose systemic problems like diabetes and high blood pressure. Sometimes before you exhibit any symptoms. They can see tell-tale signs of neurological conditions like Parkinson’s Disease, Multiple Sclerosis and, sometimes, brain tumors often before there are any signs of a problem.
They can diagnose potentially sight-robbing conditions such as retinal tears or detachment, diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma and macular degeneration.
They can tell you when it’s time to have your cataracts removed, then do all of the follow-up care that is required post-operatively.
Our Hollywood Eyes optometrists tend to their patients with care, empathy, diligence and an awesome sense of humor. Dr Kay and Dr Deweese take the time to explain their findings and answer any question that you might ask them.
If presented with a situation that requires a specialist, they will find one who can treat you and will do it with as much care as they, themselves, possess.
Perhaps, in hindsight (get it?), they are Optometric Wizards. Perhaps, if you look closely when they turn around, you’ll see their purple cloaks tucked neatly into their trousers.
Come in and help us celebrate 2020: The Year of the Optometrist! We’ll be looking forward to seeing you… and helping you see your world more clearly.
We have the most optimistic optometrists in the business! They will always tell you that your glasses are half full!
